What's a mathcast?

  A mathcast is a think aloud about math created by students or a teacher using various technologies which

  allow the think aloud to be shared on the internet, mobile devices, DVDS, etc.

Mathcast creation, editing, and sharing methods

1. Using Livescribe Pulse Smartpen - Pencasts

   

    

2. Using SMART Notebook + SMART Airliner, Board, or graphics tablet.
3. Using document camera + video recording.

4. Using Jing or Camtasia Studio.
5. Using a Flip or other digital camera

Making mathcasts creatable & accessible by

  Dysgraphic students

      Using the "Infinite Cloning - Library Method" - Choose the 4th item in table of contents.

           This method requires only a mouse.

  Deaf/HOH students

      Using YouTube translatable captions & Picture in Picture of interpreter signing

1. Translatable captions: I (Tim F) need to create a video showing the whole process of doing this but basically all you have to do to create translatable captions for YouTube is upload a script to a video that you own and YouTube will "magically" sync up the two and then make the captions available in 51 languages).
2. Picture in picture: I used Camtasia Studio to easily add the video with the interpreter signing.

                  Click on little triangle in bottom right corner and choose CC and then your desired language)

  Non-verbal students

     Example Using WordQ/SpeakQ (which could also be Co:Writer, Read/Write Gold, etc)

  Blind students

      Using tactile graphics + voice explanations on iPods, mPowers, etc
