Statement of the Problem: A soccer player is running down the field in straight line parallel to the sideline. Where is he when the angle α of success for making a goal is at a maximum?
THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT SIMULATORS HERE - GeoGebra simulator Scratch simulator

Click on the play button at bottom left of simulator or click & drag the slider point bottom to animate manually.
Find bottom when the angle α of success is a maximum. More directions below.

- As you click and drag the slider point bottom towards the left, notice that the angle α of success increases and then it starts to decrease. Move the slider slowly and find the value of bottom that makes the angle α of success a maximum.
(With a goal size g=1 and a parallel side1=2.1 from the lower goal post, the maximum angle α is when bottom=2.55.)
- To reset: click on in upper right corner.
- To move a slider to step-by-step, click on the slider point once without moving. It will glow. Use left/right arrow keys.
Double-click to open the GeoGebra file on your computer with all menus and tools.
